Shamika Pryor-Woods is Safeguard’s Operations Consultant and the person who brings calm, clarity, and structure to even the messiest of safety challenges. Since entering the safety industry in 2023, Shamika has worked across QSE, compliance and hands-on operational roles, developing a knack for turning complex requirements into practical, client-friendly systems that businesses can actually use.

Shamika supports Safeguard’s clients across system development, document creation, risk assessments, platform onboarding and compliance record coordination. Whether she’s building SOPs and SWMS, creating customised management plans, developing creative training resources from scratch, or helping a client understand exactly what applies to their business, Shamika’s approach is always the same: keep it honest, keep it clear, and tailor it to the client.

Her earlier experience allowed her to complete her Certificate IV in WHS and gain qualifications in respirator fit testing, drug and alcohol screening, and a wide range of compliance activities, which has shaped her strong technical foundation. But it’s at Safeguard where she discovered that what she enjoys most is the right kind of safety work: the kind that is hands-on, collaborative, and genuinely helpful for businesses.

Shamika loves getting out on site, learning how a business actually works, and building documentation that makes sense for real people doing real work. She’s particularly proud of contributing “true, honest work” — the kind that isn’t about ticking boxes but making sure clients feel supported, informed, and confident.

Looking ahead, Shamika is working toward expanding her qualifications into auditing, with plans to deepen her expertise in 2025. Her philosophy is simple: safety doesn’t need to be complicated — it just needs to be understood. And with the right support, businesses realise how achievable compliance really is.

Outside of work, Shamika is active and outdoors whenever she can be — playing netball, hitting the gym, getting into CrossFit, and heading out camping around North Queensland. Originally from Townsville, she brings a grounded, down-to-earth energy to everything she does.
