About Safeguard Consulting

 Safeguard Business Consulting was founded in Townsville, North Queensland, by Timothy Staatz. As a long-term resident now raising his own family here, Tim was driven by a commitment to providing genuine, practical expertise in managing risk and ensuring compliance for local and regional businesses. With over a decade spent specialising in Quality, Safety, and Environmental (QSE) management systems and accident investigation, Tim saw a need for consultancy that moved beyond 'tick-box' exercises to deliver real value and workable solutions tailored to each client's unique situation, delivered by suitably qualified and experienced persons. 

Holding formal qualifications including a Bachelor of Occupational Health & Safety, a Graduate Certificate in Accident Investigation, a Diploma in Quality Auditing and a Diploma in Applied Science (Wilderness Reserves and Wildlife) Tim's approach is built on a solid foundation of technical knowledge. This expertise is enriched by diverse life experiences: growing up with family roots in South East Queensland farming, lifelong involvement in Scouts Australia fostering principles of preparedness, resilience and community, a decade managing complex hospitality operations across  Queensland, and seven years as the operations manager (Townsville Branch) for the largest provider of wholesae fresh fruit and vegetables to the private sector in Australia before transitioning into working as a consultant. This unique blend of formal learning and extensive hands-on experience across various sectors, including significant project work within the demanding construction and infrastructure industries, fuels Safeguard's focus on developing practical management systems, conducting thorough audits and objective investigations, and offering strategic advice grounded in the realities of business operations and current legislative requirements.
